As a business or transformation leader, it’s easy to measure change in milestones and metrics - but deep down, you may be wondering: Has it actually worked? Are your people really on board? Has the change taken root or is it just skimming the surface?
Here are 7 clear signs that your change has truly landed - not just on paper, but in practice, with your people and your purpose aligned.
1. The targeted outcome your stakeholders agreed to has been achieved.
2. From day one of the newly operating process, function or system, everyone knows what they should be doing, how they should be doing it, and has all the tools and resources at their fingertips to do it effectively.
3. Any surprises during the bedding-in phase don’t cause panic, and are handled smoothly using a pre-defined post-implementation (or ‘mop-up’) plan.
4. Your stakeholders are happy with the outcome and confident that any post-transition issues will be managed swiftly and effectively.
5. Your employees, customers and stakeholders welcome the transformation and value its 5enefits.
6. Other customers or stakeholders only notice a change because their experience has improved.
7. Everyone involved in delivering the change feels proud of their contribution, and feel that their contribution has been recognised.
If these points don’t quite reflect your current change journey, you’re not alone — and it doesn’t mean you’ve failed. It just means there’s still time and space to realign, regroup, and re-energise your efforts.
If this list resonates — or if it’s sparked a few lightbulb moments — feel free to drop us an email. We're always happy to hear from fellow leaders navigating the real work of change.
